This guide is for frames with 2 mm flat and matte glass. If your frame has Museum Glass, it requires a different cleaning method.
Before You Begin
Unlike cleaning Museum Glass, you should use glass cleaning spray to remove dirt, smudges, and streaks. This will help you achieve a crystal-clear look for your frame glass.
Cleaning your glass should not take longer than 1 minute.
What You Need
- Your Glass: Most of the time, cleaning the front side where dust accumulates is enough. However, if you need to clean both sides, remove the glass from the frame.
- Glass cleaner solution (e.g., Glass Polish)
- Microfiber cloths X 2
Health & Safety
- We recommend removing the entire frame from the wall to avoid the risk of it falling and breaking.
- If you remove the glass from the frame, be cautious of sharp edges and corners. Handle glass sheets outside the frame carefully.
Cleaning Your Glass
- Take your cloth and apply the glass cleaner directly to the cloth; doing this on the cloth instead of the glass prevents overspray. You don’t want liquid seeping between the edges of the glass and the frame.
- Now, apply the damp cloth to the glass and gently wipe the surface in circular motions, removing dirt as you go. Ensure you reach the corners.
- Once satisfied that the glass on your picture frame is clean, take the dry cloth and wipe off any remaining solution. Never use paper towels as they may leave small particles behind.
- If you removed the glass or frame from the wall, reassemble and hang it back.
